The Visitor

‘The Visitor’

Look there -

the butterfly.

She flies

as though delicate paper

through wind

with wings

of weightless jewels.

Do not try

to catch her.

Wave and scramble

and she’ll fly away.

But sit

in just the right spot

in patient silent repose

and she may

land on you.

Don’t try.

If you want

her imperceptible kiss

leaving dust of magic —

let her come to you.
