Window to the World

Henri Matisse The Open Window.jpg

‘Window to the World’

I sit

at the window.

Some days

a portal opens

and the world

rushes in

to greet me

like a thousands suns.

Some days

a haze hangs

in separation,

a veil between two worlds.

I want,

I yearn

to fly out --

but only

by transport of imagination

can I go

sand castles

skyscrapers of clouds

and sea beds.

I remember --

I need not go.

I sit

in the place

God circled for me.
